Lighthouse Christian Fellowship in Alfred, New York

Senior High Youth Ministry
Matthew Snyder – Leader

Purpose:

  • Evangelism: (Contact) “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8”

  • Fellowship: (Caring) “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25”

  • Worship: (exemplify CHRIST) “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you preset your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1”

  • Discipleship: (Catalyst) “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance for dead works and of faith toward God. Hebrews 6:1”

  • Ministry: (Challenge) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10”

Goals:

  • Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Youth Ministry exists to make contact with believing and non-believing teens, to accept them into a caring group of Christians, to help them exemplify Christ in their lives, to be a catalyst for spiritual growth, and to challenge them to venture into the great quest of the Christian walk.

Objective:

The focus of the ministry is bi-fold.

  1. To build relationships among teenagers.

This includes meeting with teens who are actively involved with LCF Church and those students who are only a part of the youth ministry and /or attend church elsewhere or have no church involvement. Our primary avenue of building relationships is having students and volunteer staff interacting together at our

bi-weekly Friday night meetings through games, discussions, and hang-out time before and after our meetings. Outside of those times, we have various activities such as fall retreat, Harvest Party (Halloween alternative), snow tubing trips, picnics, individual or small group time with staff members, state-side summer mission trips, and our annual manhunt at the Arnot Mall.

  2. To train up student leaders.

Students apply each May to be part of the student leadership team for the following year. Meetings are scheduled to teach students how to do the basic ins and outs of the ministry. Skills such as game leading, facilitating discussions, set-up and clean-up responsibilities are going over. Attendance at a one-time training with the local chapter of Youth For Christ is required each September, along with some (light) assigned readings.
